Just came across this:

I would really enjoy this, but the death metal vocals kind of kill it for me.

I was expecting a growl-fest after that comment. I thought the harshes were rather understated compared to a lot of stuff out there.

Because you don't like death vocals in general? Or because you don't like her death vocals?

Just curious.
For those who are interested in that sort of thing, my collection on Discogs.com.

You know, I really enjoy well-done death metal vocals. It's just that not all vocalists can pull that style off very well. Cleans are sometimes best.

I'm not really a fan of death vocals in general. Hers aren't bad by any means, I'm just not a fan. And it sounded kind of out of place to me, like it would have been better entirely clean.

Come to think of it, it might be her voice. She's got an amazing clean voice that to me it feels out of place when I hear the death vocals. Whereas when Nov gets a little deathy on Volcano's Mythology, it feels more natural to me given he's got a much more raspy and aggressive voice already so it feels right at home.

I've never cared about this band, however I thought that song was actually not bad. My only complaint is that the chorus is based around one of those j-rock/j-pop melodies I've heard before somewhere. Overall though, well done.

I didn't mind the harsh vocals myself.
Occasionally, I write Western and Japanese music reviews.

Okay, fair enough. If you're not familiar with any other songs from them, though, you probably won't care for them in general, as she uses death vocals pretty frequently.

Yeah, not a band I'm familiar with at all, happened to stumble across it because Volcano's twitter retweeted a post of theirs that linked to the video and mentioned the new album.
