Good choices. M.D.O. almost made my 3 too, but decided against it because in my opinion its not as good as the heavy stuff on Awakening or even the other heavy tracks on Clockwork like Mastermind 01

To me none of the heavier songs are as good as the songs from the debut.

And the softer songs are just average european power metal songs.
I think the band lost a lot of their own unique identity as they tried to sound like a european band.

Other people may like it but if i like to hear european power metal sound there are more bands out who do it better.

Personally, I think the time constraints may have been an issue for 'Clockwork Immortality'. There haven't been any huge changes in production or recording personnel and the Nuclear Blast deal was not yet happening when the album was written. Granted, I don't dislike the album as much as you do, as I really only find the last two songs and a large portion of 'Empty Daydream' lacking, but it feels rushed.

Well their debut is one of my faves as they had a good mix of european pm and a unique japanese style.
The new one is pure european pm but i know much more bands which play it better.

Maybe it came out too fast after the ep.

They should take more time to write their songs.

But that's just my opinion.

Perhaps I’m just fickle - I really liked the debut EP and full-length, then my enthusiasm went downhill for the next EP, and for some reason even more so for “Clockwork Immortality”. But then they were really good live in Tokyo.

I’m certainly less interested in the more melodic Euro-PM Lovebites as I don’t think it’s what they do best - but if they cared what direction every random fan wanted them to go in they’d never get anywhere.

Actually the reason why I thought Lovebites is better than most other all-female bands out there is because they sounded so European. To me, it's easily one of the least Japanese-sounding of the bunch. But I guess it's not all power metal on 'Awakening From Abyss', as my favorite songs are generally the thrashier ones.

well there’s “European” and “European”. I’m fine with them ripping Iron Maiden, because straight away when you stick an R ‘n’ B singer over the top it’s going to sound a lot less like IM. It’s the more AOR-tinged stuff which disappoints me.

My sister gave me the Clockwork Immortality because she knows I like to hear japanese girlsbands. I am positively surprised by the album, my favorites are Empty Daydream and M.D.O..
So far I knew Rising only because of the music videos, but I do not like this song, usual power metal standard mainstream for me. But I like all the other songs a lot better.
