I'm still not convinced that that wasn't Painkiller's secret motive for these forums Tongue
If you can't get enough of me giving my opinions without having asked for it, you can read more of it on my Kevy Metal weblog.

I'm going to do this a little differently, and say that you should pick an album from the first era of the band, and an album from the second era of the band. So I went with Bound To Break from the first era (although Gypsy Ways and Hunting Time are both equally good in my opinion, and self-titled, Tightrope, No Smoke Without Fire and Domestic Booty are all fantastic as well), and Eternal Warrior from the second era. The albums from each respective era of the band all sound similar, no matter whether it's Eizo Sakamoto or Yukio Morikawa, so you really can't go wrong.

As for the album with Graham Bonnet singing, Heavy Metal Anthem, I like Graham Bonnet, so of course I like this album too, but it is more for completionists sake. I also own the Gypsy Ways (Win Lose Or Draw) single which has the non-album track Love In Vain.

And just wait until you go full fanboy and start trying to acquire all of the non-album tracks, like Xanadu, Holy Fighter, and Blast. Tongue

qpr and Lost_Horizons bring up very good points: non-album/bonus tracks. I am a completist, so . . .

*cracks knuckles*

Let's do this.

Isn't Love In Vain on the Gypsy ways album?
I'm pretty sure it is.

Yes, but not the version with Graham Bonnet on vocals. That version is only available on the Gypsy Ways (Win Lose Or Draw) single released just prior to Heavy Metal Anthem.

Ok you mean the 2000 version.
Got it Smile

I just own the 88 version.

So...did you ever make up your mind on which Anthem albums to start off with? Dr Pepper

Although Bound to Break got the most individual votes, the general consensus seems to be there's no bad place to start. So, I think I'll bounce back to the very beginning, and do kind of like I'm doing with the Mari Hamada discography: work my way toward the middle by alternating with old and new.
