[Thrash Metal] F.T.G. (Freedom That's Gone)
#1
F.T.G. (Freedom That's Gone) is an old school thrash metal band from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that formed in 1989 and has been going strong since then. They currently have ten albums, two EPs (one of them was just released in 2019), one compilation album (from 1998), and have made three appearances on split releases.

Although I only own the first album, After the Promise, I can tell they're definitely influenced by hardcore to some degree, and the bass often stands out. Their lyrical themes mostly stem from social issues and injustice, as is typical of bands established out of politically corrupt nations.

For fans of Slayer, Heathen, Kreator, Sepultura, Exodus, Sodom, and Sadus.

Those vocals sound a lot like Tom Angelripper on Sodom's very earliest material at times. This stuff is a little too primitive for me, but I can see fans of that Sodom era loving this to shreds.
If you can't get enough of me giving my opinions without having asked for it, you can read more of it on my Kevy Metal weblog.

Yeah, they do have that Tom Angelripper feel to them. At least with the first two albums, that is. Looks like the successor has more of a "contemporary" sound that's still pretty raw enough to keep fans clinging.

I bought the first album off jnfernal, so when he has some more of that stuff for sale, I'll be sure to add them to my collection.
