The Gazette - Ninth (June 13, 2018)
#1
A couple of hours ago, The Gazette unearthed their new song 'Falling' through their official website and announced the release of their brand new album 'Ninth' in the process. I guess I won't have to tell you how many albums they released before that one.

No tracklist has been made available yet, but their website says it will contain new 12 songs and there will be two limited editions with the new video clip and a concert of the band playing some of their earliest songs. Most of them are songs from their early EP's as far as I can read them. I would copy them, but they're on the site as an image file.

I was hoping for a continuation of the dark, gothy 'Dogma' sound, but unfortunately, 'Falling' sounds more like a combination of the three albums before that. Ruki's voice is in fine shape though.

Edit: Someone seems to have ripped the video from the website, so for as long as it's online, here you go:

They always seem to surprise me with some decent songs. Haven't followed them in several years. 9 albums now, huh? Quite the catalog for a visual kei band.

Yeah, especially considering the huge amount of EP's they released in their first four or five years.

I have considered not following them for a while, because despite Ruki's good voice, I thought 'Division' was by far the best thing they did and the following 'Beautiful Deformity' was nowhere near as good. However, while making a thred on them on these forums, I discovered that 'Dogma' was an incredible album and that put them back on my radar.

Edit: Just added the video for 'Falling' to the original post.

Well, at least you don't need to buy all four versions to get all the content...

By the way, the video in the OP has been taken down.

I had already expected that to happen. I think it's officially online now though. Let me check and fix that.

A new track surfaced, apparently. Came across this completely coincidentally.

Another new track. I started out thinking "ugh...", but there are some pretty nice sections in this song after all.

In the period leading up to the release of this album, I have been amazed at how much previewed material appeared on YouTube channels that are in no way officially owned by the band. There's this trailer now:

Not sure what to think of this yet. It seems like the nu metal factor has been dialed up a little again, while I really loved the gothy vibe of 'Dogma'. I think I like the samples with Japanese titles significantly more than those with English titles, 'Unfinished' being a pleasantly melodic exception, despite it's intro sounding suspiciously like that of 'Shunsetsu no Koro'. I even find myself humming along the "day of blue graduation" part from that song.
