They're sort of like the Japanese version of Nightwish (except way better). Tatsuya Nishiwaki is the main brain behind the band. He's the main songwriter, keyboard guy and he provides the fancy symphonic keyboard stuff. The rest of the lineup is extremely talented as well including guys like Masaki on bass and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars (both are practically gods at their respective instruments). But this is pretty much a "diva" band and the main attraction is Akane Liv on vocals. Apparently she once won "singer of the year" award at the Beckenham Festival in the UK. Not sure what that is, but it sounds important. She's has the super-operatic voice and can hit some pretty damn high notes.
Not surprisingly, they basically play symphonic/power metal and sometimes the guys in the back can really let loose. The common consensus, I think, is that Golden Moon is their best album. Personally, I also like Symphonic Moon, and I'm strangely partial to Double Moon even though like half of it is dreamy ballads. The End of the Beginning is a bit inconsistent, but there are some gems on it like the title track. They also have a cover album, but... eh who cares? Of course, I'm also hyped up for their new EP which is out in less than a week.
Unfortunately, youtube is a wasteland, but I'll link what I can.
This is the opener to Golden Moon, and I'm really glad someone uploaded this song. One of their best for sure; that middle section is nuts.
Off of The End of the Beginning, but I like it.
One of the symphonic dreamy ballads off of Double Moon. It's got a weird twist in it.
Amen!
I could only find this one on niconico, but I think it's one of the best off of Symphonic Moon. Unfortunately, it's just a short sample.

Sometimes, I write new posts on my blog (mostly music).
