Salty Dog - ELiXiR (February 15, 2019)
#1
Salty Dog make their first release after losing their gaijin front woman, Inger. The new one is called Sera and the vocals Japanese, so I guess she's a local? SD are mostly what you'd call 'Loud Rock' in Japan, I believe.

Another example (in the album title) of the odd Japanese rule that English band names/release titles should be all in caps...other than the letter i... (LAPiS LiGHT, REGiNA KiSS). This message brought to you courtesy of Nerdy Observations R Us.

Anyway, thought this was decent, may delve further in a quiet moment between releases. I think I saw their live footage with the old singer and wasn’t that enthused, but who knows.

Their last vocalist wasn't really my thing either. Maybe Sera will be a step up!

And we have an MV:

Not bad. Almost like they're trying to hide the change of vocalists with that funky wig though Wink

Is that the same 'stately home' Yuzukingdom used for 'National Anthem' though?

Well to follow this up Salty Dog have released a couple of digital-only singles:

First the very Dance/Electronica 'Dance & Shout':

Then the 'Power Ballad' Emilia:

Can't say they've no variety! Links in the video description.

I tried to buy ELiXiR the last time I was in Japan but Disk Union didn’t have it in stock (booo)....then it came out on iTunes, but with only half the tracks, which is pretty pointless.

So I guess I’ll pick up the plastic frisbee version at some point.

The new electronica one sounds very much like Passcode but with a much stronger singer and no autotune vocals. I also bought the power ballad - it’s fine but I’m just not that wild about ballads generally.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Oh well, I suppose it's just to get the completists to buy both versions. At least it's not as bad as idol and VK groups who have live seven versions of every release!
