Rikugo (六合) - 饒彩万輝 (August 7, 2019)
#1
Long-running dark progressive rock/metal band from Kyoto, 六合(Rikugo) are putting out a new album for their fifteenth anniversary. It's a concept album on the theme of 'colour'. If you like hard rock and metal that's a bit proggy & melancholy they may be up your street. Not exactly 'fun', but certainly bit different and complex.

Wow this is actually really good. It's very moody and the middle section is pretty awesome. I also like the vocalist.
Occasionally, I write Western and Japanese music reviews.

The video is a good example of how to pull off a cheap MV well (lots of abstract stuff) although to be fair I guess it wouldn’t work for everyone.

That is some rock solid modern prog rock. I'd take a whole album of that. Atmospheric, pretty, technical and well-executed, and the members clearly have talent to spare. The vocalist sounds like he'd make an extremely high end visual kei singer.

Just got delayed to August 7th. Dodgy.

I actually have something else preordered that comes out that day so it works out anyway.

Hmm interesting album. I guess it's something like modern-styled progressive rock/metal. On another note, I wonder how this band is in MA. They are very borderline metal; you think it wouldn't be pure enough for them. Tongue

Especially given how much lunaterra had to battle to get the pretty much full-on power metal band that is Matenrou Opera on there...
If you can't get enough of me giving my opinions without having asked for it, you can read more of it on my Kevy Metal weblog.

I got their first three works when they offered them on free download earlier this year. They're very much a mix of rock and metal, so I guess one they decided one of them had more metal than rock in total. I've had bands rejected for just being 50/50.
