[J-Indie] Omoime-Gurasu (オモイメグラス)
#1
One of my favorite new discoveries. Not even sure where to start with their genre. I guess they fall in the indie scene over there and they play a mix of J-Pop/J-Rock and are somewhat progressive/artsy in nature. They incorporate jazz, electronic, and math rock influences. They're fairly emotional at times too (and vary moods quite a bit).

This song got me into them - was hooked immediately. I love the vocals on this, plus the music is rather dynamic and focused as well. Fairly dark in mood.

One of their poppier songs, but this one is quite beautiful.

Not sure why they're saying goodbye to triangles, but whatever. One of their more poppy/melodic songs. I like this one a lot.

The opening keys on this are rather prog sounding. One of their math-ier songs.

More atmospheric and emotional than usual. Beautiful.

Ah yeah, I remember specifically saying this was cool in the Now Playing thread. I still think so of course.
Occasionally, I write music reviews.

I think sosを待っていた might be my favorite by them. Its funny how they crib the catchy parts and edit out the technical ones in that trailer though.

Hello again! Missed me?

Anyways, this seems like some well-aged jam you've scavenged from the cellar. I'm currently listening to the first song in this thread (New Torino). I think I've heard this somewhere, but I'm not sure? I don't know why but I get some vague nostalgia from this one.

Oh, that first song I posted elsewhere on this forum several times.

Only live footage I could find. I like this version more than the studio one.

If there's one thing I don't like, it would be the vocalist. Her voice gets shaky quite often and she struggles to maintain balance while singing. That aside, I'll definitely listen to this band more!

She does sound a bit pitchy here and there, but she's just emoting (or over-emoting) like a lot of females do over there. Its definitely an acquired taste.

[edit] I'll add that I'm assuming her vocals are not processed, and have a particular rawness about them (I'm starting to notice that is somewhat common over there). Over here, a lot of stuff is victim of studio buggery.

^ Not an expert or anything, but I think she's talking about her rehearsal just ending. The first thing means "[Applause]".

I really need to work my neglected Japanese quite a bit.

They do have a live coming up. I think I saw some other tweet about them playing new stuff at that live.

Anyway...

Looks like a trailer or something.
