[J-Indie] Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
#1
One of the more influential/important bands in the indie scene, paving the way for this wave of female-fronted/all-female bands in that scene. I'm just getting into this band... trust me to get things ass-backwards and discover all their progeny first Laugh Here's a wiki in English if you want more background. They formed in 2002 and managed to release a whopping 2 MCDs and one full-length before going on hiatus in 2012. Fortunately they returned in 2015 and new music is supposedly in the works.

So this is like the original tricot?  Tongue

The name actually sounds familiar to me, so I may have heard of them before but this is my first time trying out their music. Sounds pretty good actually.
Occasionally, I write music reviews.

Pretty much. Everything from Tricot to Mamadrive is influenced by this band. In fact, a member of Tricot atttented MotFD's reunion live or something. They apparently toured a lot with 9mm Parabellum Bullet back in the 00s too.

New PV.

I probably should play those 2 MCDs of theirs I received earlier today. I still need to nail their full-length (HMV couldn't stock it).

Their full-length turned out to be better than expected. Not quite as good as their 2nd MCD (which I consider to be the pinnacle for this band). I was assuming that being their major label debut, their sound would be watered down, but it really wasn't. There's some poppy elements, but this thing gets pretty noisy/aggressive too. In fact the production is pretty noisy throughout. I wouldn't be shocked if being on a major killed this band due to other reasons though.

Apparently Meguri (Paranoid Void) was their support guitarist after Chiemi left. Unsurprisingly, a few older Paranoid Void songs are rather MotFD-ish.

I like this band a lot. I think I discovered them randomly checking out Japanese bands in the iTunes store. Glad they're back to making music.

I've heard of them for awhile, but didn't bother checking them out until I learned they toured with Paranoid Void (one of my favorite bands). They're probably one of the more influential bands on what I listen to now (I'm sure they've inspired every all/mostly-female indie/math rock band post 2010).

I see 5 new songs played live now. New CD soon would be nice.

That's so weird that the two MCDs are on iTunes, but not the full length. Picked them up.
I'll have to see how hard it is to find that one.
