[Interview] My interview with Marina Hebiishi (Mardelas)
#1
Remember the e-mail interview I said went surprisingly decently? Well, that was with Mardelas singer Marina Hebiishi. It can be found in English on my Kevy Metal weblog and in Dutch on The Sushi Times. It's more or less the same article.

Marina was far more elaborate than I was expecting based on my last couple of mailers and I'm relatively content with the way it turned out. I hope you guys get something out of it as well!

It helps that I know their drum roadie Wink Or at least... That's what I think happened, because I suddenly got a reaction from Marina after a short tour they did recently, only a month after I complained to said roadie that it took too long for them to answer Laugh

Hey, whatever works, right? Smile

Thanks for sharing.

Re: the chord progressions she comes up with to go along with her vocal melodies, did she give any indication to what she uses for that? Maybe in the context of the question she was answering? I've always been curious about her composing style, if it was on a keyboard, a guitar, or something else.

She did not actually tell me, no. I actually wondered the same thing, but I didn't thought it would be worth it to ask for more elaboration on that, not knowing how long it would take before I got it back. I used about 98% of every answer she gave me, I only shuffled the order around in order to make it more readable.

Did she answer in English? It's my understanding that she is fluent.

Her answers were all in English, but I have no idea if a translator was involved or not. It doesn't seem like there was anyway. From what I understand, she was either born or raised in Singapore and English is a highly common language there.
