[Heavy/Power Metal] Xanadu
#1
Xanadu was a Japanese heavy/power metal band, with a name clearly borrowed from a very famous song by a famous progressive rock band. They were one of the many underground bands to have made an appearance on Mandrake Root Records' Make It Shine compilation albums, providing the songs "Out of My Fate" and "Julia" -- the latter was also reused on Forever Ties, their sole 2001 full-length album.

Musically, they remind me of a very refined cross between Rainbow and typical American hard rock, albeit with a neoclassical power metal flair. They're very keyboard-heavy, so anyone who's into Hellen or most other similarly styled bands that once belonged to Mandrake Root Records' roster would dig this band. The vocals are also very fitting for this melodic style of metal, sounding quite like Joe Lynn Turner and Don Dokken.

For fans of Terra Rosa, Hellen, Rush, Azrael, Blindman, Rainbow, Castle in the Air, Deep Purple, Dokken, Prophesia, and Seventh Son.

My twisted mind's first response was to compose a post in the same style, but for the movie of the same name. <shrugs>

Thanks for the reminder.

I always wanted to buy the CD but never did it. Don´t know why.
Getting old. WTF?!?!?

It's a shame that two of the three videos got taken down. This band had a lot of potential.

There is currently a copy over at eBay selling at thirty dollars, but shipping is from Germany, so you probably would be OK with that.
