[Heavy/Power Metal] Rastein
#1
Rastein are a youngish four member HM band based in Tokyo from around 2011. They seem to have a convention of taking pseudonyms, so all the members are a bit anonymous, presumably because they don't want their parents to know they're in a band because they're all pretending to be salarymen ( Big Grin ). Anyway, they've had a bit of difficulty with an ever-changing line-up, as many Japanese bands seem to do. Now the only original member left now is their main vocalist (and support guitarist) Tim(!), who is presumably the one holding it all together. Full current line-up:

Timothy Catapult: Vocals, Guitar (2011-present)
Pettsu: Bass (2015-present)
Itokin: Guitars (2016-present)
Taa-kun: Drums (2017-present)

Style varies a bit in that Japanese way, going from Hard Rock to Power Metal, but also a lot of fairly 'meat-and-potatoes' metal. Song titles and lyrics appear exclusively Japanese. They've got through three demos and one compilation appearance before independently releasing a full album in 2017, 「恐怖の集団」 (Kyoufu no Shoudan/A Group of Fears).

Fun Fact: Not the easiest band in the world to search for, due to the rather better known German band with a couple more letters in there! Funnily enough, judging by the covers they do, they seem to be more into Helloween (as just about every musician in Japan is, it seems). We'll see where they go from here.

Anyway here's some video to see if they're your thing...

Here's an early MV:

Bit of live footage up on their channel:

What kind of guy wears a bobble hat to a metal show?

Mind you, the guy next to him, whose 'dancing' consists of shifting from one foot to the other in a vaguely uncomfortable manner, is just like me at these things Wink
