[Gothic/Symphonic] D / Asagi / Ruiza / Hide-Zou
#1
They certainly warrant a thread. D is probably among the first big name visual kei bands post 2000. Hell, they even beat Versailles to the whole "anime vampires" thing. The metal-archives page has them as "Symphonic Gothic Metal with Folk Influences" which kinda describes them. There's a lot of j-rock thrown in as well of course. The band is really talented, but Tsunehito, in particular, is a killer bassist. Asagi is also an excellent, diverse vocalist.

I personally prefer the earlier, independent material that was more gothic and less symphonic, but their later stuff is pretty good too. I haven't picked up any of their post-hiatus singles, so I have no idea about those. My favorite D album would probably be either Tafel Anatomie or Neo Culture.

Some personal favourites of mine.

Sometimes, I write new posts on my blog (mostly music).
