General J-Indie Discussion

This thread is a catch-all for all Japanese indie, post, shoegaze, etc bands that don't warrant their own thread (yet). Indie/piano pop can go here too, but I may make a thread for that sort of thing later. Math rock (or close enough) can go here.

Japan has a super good math rock scene. Here's some of my personal favourites.

3nd:
Algorythm
I love various time signature switchups and the melodies. Killer instrumental playing as always.

PENs+:
旅に出たい、と言って
If all emo was this good, I'd be a huge fan. A fun goofy video.

tricot:
ポークジンジャー
Tricot is actually pretty popular overseas. They've toured across the US and in Europe already. Fabulous band.
Occasionally, I write music reviews.

The Madcap Laughs:

Love this... the bass playing on this is pretty ace.

They were on one of those band competitions they have over there (forgot which one). I've seen them around (ie, touring with some other bands I listen to), but didn't pay much attention until recently.

I discovered a band called Enthralls via last.fm:

きょうはうまく眠れない
シグナル

I like the second song more than the first, but the first has grown on me a bit (I think they had a vocalist change). That second one is pretty jazzy. I ordered all 3 of their MCDs. It makes me wonder how many other similar bands are out there that I'm missing out on.

I tidied the thread up a bit. I guess instead of spamming indie shit in the now playing thread, I should contain it here more. Tongue

I blundered into a band called Unlimits (who apparently has 11 CDs):

This has promise. The main melody sounds like it could fit nicely in power metal.

I didn't even release they released this PV last year (asleed at the switch). My second favorite song from their debut album. I like the wailing vocals on this.

Unlimits are one of my favorites. Though I only found out about them a couple of years ago so I definitely don't know all 11 CDs lol.

I really like Nothing To Declare lately. I'm excited about their new album coming out.
