CREATURE CREATURE

CREATURE CREATURE is sort of a super group of prominent VK members spearheaded by Morrie of Dead End fame. The lineup has fluctuated a bit, but there's been some big names that have played in this band such as Shinya from Luna Sea, Tetsu from L'Arc~en~Ciel, Hiro from La'cryma Chrisiti, Hitoki from Kuroyume, etc. In a nutshell, they basically play strange gothic rock/metal that has some very strong progressive tendencies at times. It's very interesting stuff and I can hear why Morrie was so influential. The guy is a very talented vocalist with a lot of range and the instrumentalists aren't slouches either. After hearing their first 3 albums, I've got very high expectations for the upcoming 4th one which should be great.

This is possibly their most popular song.

Here's one of the stranger ones off of Inferno. Sorry about this guy's poor video editing lol.

A more straightfoward one from the debut.

Here's one from Phantoms.

And just for good measure, here's the sample for the new album.

I hear a lot of Morrie's little quirks in Asagi's style at times, helps that they have similar vocal power too. Pretty sure if he were asked, Asagi would probably say he's a pretty big fan of this guy.

Don't forget about the whole "black hair covering one eye" thing. Tongue I guess Morrie probably didn't really invent something as simple as that though lol.

Lol. I do like Morrie's harsher vocals more than Asagi's though, I think they're just a little better controlled.

Yeah Morrie has better harsh vocals. Also they are a lot weirder (not sure wtf some of those noises are lol). Asagi has an edge on the falsettos though.

What really surprised me about CREATURE CREATURE is how progressive their albums were. Like there's plenty of time switch ups and weird structures on their albums. As far as I know, Dead End wasn't like this at all (maybe some of their modern stuff is; I dunno).

Okay, dadgumit, I've gone and added these guys to my Spotify library for further investigation. *sigh*

Obviously I've been enjoying this band immensely lately. I really liked the new album. The difference with it is that it draws a lot more from their weirder/experimental moments. One downside is that you don't get an amazing rocker like Dream Caller or Red, but it's certainly more progressive.

Also, Eye (Mary's Blood) apparently does a guest "scream" on track 5. I didn't really notice anything (probably just assumed it was Morrie). I guess that's payback for Hitoki working with Mary's Blood on their album. Wink

Just a scream? No lyric lines? Odd.
