Calaveras - Hell Will Decide (February 14, 2019)

Saitama based guitarist Ken Kishi has put together a four piece band to play 'American Hard Rock' with an eighties feel. Vocalist Doug Wilson is an actual American, so I guess the English will be precise enough, though I guess you lose that authentic 'Engrish' feel Wink This is their first album.

Cover:

They didn't do much for me as a whole going from the trailer and I didn't really like the vocals in particular. It's like 80s rock with an average nu metal singer on top. Tongue

Yikes what a description. It's accurate though. Laugh

Ha - that description sounded so bad that it made me want to listen to it for some sick reason - but to me it sounded more like the Nickelback guy singing than nu-metal (obviously this is still not a good thing).

Can’t say I enjoyed it greatly but it’s good to get these obscure left-field shots now and again.

To me he feels like 5 Finger Death Punch's singer without being angry. Laugh

Calaveras is Spanish for “skulls” in case the cover didn’t give it away - personally given the 80s theme I’d have preferred they just went with “Skullz” - that would have been, well, none more METAL.

Does anything even remain if that guy is not angry anymore? Tongue

There's someone else that singer reminds me of a lot, and not even someone I disliked, it'll probably come to me in a moment after I actually post this... I don't find this stuff particularly bad or offensive by the way, it's listenable, but a little bland.

Told you it would come to me in a minute... Paul Souza of Meliah Rage fame:
