Billm99uk's Cd Haul/Collection Thread

I guess I've got enough junk to do one of these now....anyway this week has been a bit busy for me, after a bit of a budget crisis pre-Christmas Wink

I haven't really had time to listen to them yet, let alone decide which I'm going to keep, but I'll add some general comments so its not just a boring list (if I'm in the mood).

First up CD Japan's new releases and Disk Union delivery #1:

Image

Grand Finale / Descent Without Modification
Looking forward to this, even if I'm one of the few people who liked Elendira's old vocalist Wink

Silhouette from the Skylit / Wired
Then again, I'm one of the few people who like this band at all...

Eri Kitamura / Moso Teikoku Chikuonki
The unexpectedly reliable Eri is back with another unpronounceable release. MV gave me a massive headache, but I'll forgive her.

Adelheid / Adelheid2
Rock and Roll and silly cowboy hats! And with Mardelas' minimalist approach to album titling...

Werewolf Babys / Circle of Doom
Japanese Mommy Metal. Should be interesting.

Disk Union deliveries #2 & #3
Image

BBA / Made in Sapporo
The new band of Fast Draw singer Katsumu Kodama - bought on spec so hopefully interesting.

Beginning of the End - Warrior's Story
Looking forward to this.

Risingfall / Prologue
And that's the last of Risingfall's limited back catalogue I have now. Release an album dammit!

Rokugen Alice / Psylent Majority~イデア座の夜~
Rokugen Alice / Psylent Majority~喝采のマーダー~
Really liked the trailers for these. We'll see if they live up to them

Skygraph / Lost Pages
Another I bought because I liked the trailer, even if it is potentially a bit metalcore.

Youraw / Heal the World
Well I did a thread on them, so I thought I may as well get the album.

Disk Union delivery #4
Image

Fury of Fear / Beginning of
Fury of Fear / Tales of the End of the World
Just like Mamoru's shred work. These are the two easily available CD's they have. 'Beginning of' is a collection, TotEotW an EP. Other stuff is harder to get.

Varioustorm / Prayer of the Phoenix
People told me this is good...

Velmentia / Daybreakers
Likewise....

Well I know what I'm doing this weekend, how about you?
Feel free to request a translation here. And check out my previous work in this section.
Please bear it mind I'm always busy though and it may take a while!

And another update.

First up, delivery from Disk Heaven (Bill in Nagoya, not quite bankrupt yet!):

Image

Rami - Reloaded
The lovely Rami's latest band-free effort. Hopefully I like this more than some around here! We shall see.

Divine Wind - Final Mission
TvvrAskesis 's favorites. I quite liked the trailer I saw so thought I'd try one of their older albums.

Angers - Malediction
The trailer for their latest mini-album looked nice, so I went and bought their original album. Comes with Perdition 's recommendation, but I won't hold that against them Tongue

Hammerhead - Rion
Old school heavy metal types I did a thread on here . Seemed quite fun whilst I was doing the research, so I tracked down their original album. Luckily not one of those hard to find CD's.

Next up a bunch of stuff from Perdition . Very well packaged, obviously!:

Image

Elendira - Stray Sheep
And that's Elendira's (limited) discography tied up for now. For some reason I find their stuff irresistibly funny. The band goes like the clappers whilst their singer sounds half-asleep most of the time.

JEKYLL★RONOVE - E=mc2
JEKYLL★RONOVE - Ambivalence
JEKYLL★RONOVE - Sky is the Limit
Another limited discography tied up - though JR's latest I got on download was pretty nice, so I got the full set. Their lead singers voice is highlight though. She's impressively silky.

Prophesia - Eye of the Storm
And that's a third done. I thought Prophesia's latest was very good, but I seem to be the only one here. Sorry guys!

And finally from CD Japan:

Image

Baskerville - The Sign of Six
This one proved unexpectedly hard to get for such a recent release. Failed at multiple sites until I ordered from the band website. Had to use CD Japan proxy shopping as they didn't take non-Japanese credit cards. Better be good after all that!

How´s the Hammerhead?
I just know some of their songs from the compilations.
Worth to buy it?

Haven't played it yet as I'm reorganizing my CD's right now - built a new cabinet this weekend. Will let you know when I do though.

And a few more deliveries:

Disk Union:
Image

Freedom Creators: 囚われの僕ら 【ディスクユニオン・オリジナル特典付】
Well, I guess this will tide me over until the next Unlucky Morpheus release. It's produced by UM and features a few of their members, Aramari rather than Fuki on vocals . Trailer sounded very good. Plus free postcard (also not of Fuki!)

Spirytus: Silence of the Raven
I ordered this and they promptly lost their drummer. Hope that's not an omen!

Hellfire: Hellfire
Yay! Been waiting ages for this one to come out. Reinvented retro PM band (but with only the original vocalist left!)

Nameless One: シャンバラの扉 ~The Gates of Shambhala~
The fantasy LARPers are back. I'm told this is a lot better than their last effort. We shall see. Wonder what the bonus disk is?

Image

Band-Maid: World Domination
Got the JPU version, just to prove they have fans out here. Maybe that way they'll come back and I can confuse them with more dodgy Japanese. Liked the MV's so far, anyway. Ooh dat bass on 'Dice'! Plus Aldious promo too, so I guess JPU haven't forgotten about them entirely. If they can get them to come to Europe I'll retract everything I've ever said about Re:NO, honestly. Always wanted to see Yoshi's wig live!

Finally, by Yahoo! Auctions for this month:

Image

High Wire: Beginning of the End
Seemed a decent sounding HM/HR act with female vox from their live stuff on YouTube. Might do a thread on these if I like them enough Wink

Unlucky Morpheus: U&I Eurobeat Remix
UM... and Eurobeat. This could be good, or it could be like avocado-flavoured breakfast cereal. Who knows?

Quiet week for me I guess Wink Just some stuff from Amazon and JPU:

Image

Jealous Wild - Eye of the Storm
Comes with an official "Meh!" of sorta disapproval from Perdition but I guess since my tastes appear to be where his were about 10-15 years ago (minus total girl-band mania) I'm probably going to like it. Just hope this doesn't mean I'm going to be getting into obscure Indie stuff and Math Rock by the time I'm collecting my pension Wink

Rising Door - Voltage
Well I heard one track and liked it so...semi-pro-ish female-fronted multi-generational HM/HR with ex-Ebony Eyes Takashi Fukumura handling the drums.

Aldious - We Are
Got the JPU edition as I hadn't got around to getting the Nippon edition and it comes with extras. Think I'll give 'Unlimited Diffusion' a few more spins before I try this one though. I like the front end of that more than the back end (well, minus 'Without You', of course!). Did enjoy the MV for 'We Are' though, so I doubt it'll be a total disappointment.

Another couple of deliveries this week:

Amazon.jp sent me these:

Image

Zenith Grace - Zenith Grace
Obscure melodic HM/HR band (3 men and 2 women) who were around from 2010 before releasing this 7-song (mini-?) album and then promptly going on one of those 'permanent hiatus' things. Clips sounded interesting so I gave it a go. Only available at Amazon it seems.

Alevas - Greed of White Lily
Another Amazon exclusive - they run off the CD-R to order. Trailer sounded interesting: very proggy though! Album is even more discordant than the clips, so I haven't really decided if I like it or not yet. Suspect it'll take a few more plays. Complex enough anyway. Did a thread for them earlier if you want samples.

SA Music:

Image

Narumi - The Seed
Narumi's latest. Finally got around to ordering a copy as everyone likes it so much. Looks like they sent me the picture book version though.

Various Artists - Metal Exterminator
Compilation with 'Bridge of Tears', 'Aiming High' and 'Duel' on it. All reliable old-timers! Did find a copy on Yahoo Auctions but it was one of those 'won't sell outside Japan or to agents' types . Not a great way to run a business if you ask me.

Crystal Arrow - Flight of the Crystal Arrow
Another female-fronted HM/HR band, with Naoko Hirota on vocals. These lasted five years from 2012 before releasing an album and promptly splitting up. Only to re-form under another name, minus their previous bassist. I wonder what he did to make himself so unpopular...

Revenge.69 - De La Serma…Guerrilla
Misspelled Marxist Metal. Another one I recently did a thread for. Not quite sure what I'm expecting here. Russian Male Voice Choir doing the backing vocals? Possibly not. Ought to be different anyway!

Busy week for me again:

First up, some stuff from Bill at Disk Heaven:

Image

Valthus - Tapestried Destiny
One of those bands I'm slowly working my way through their discographys. This one is their first full-length album from 2013

Seventh Son - Fates for Destination
Another of those same bands. This one I'm actually starting from the beginning and working towards the present day. For a change, since I usually do it all the 'wrong way', by trying a recent release first.

S.L.U.R. - Invisible Sun
This duo managed to release one E.P. and then went on one of those dreaded 'permanent hiatus' things in 2013. The name actually stands for 'Seventh Link & Ultimate Ray' though God knows what that means!

Howling - Spiral to Victory
Did the research. Did the JMF thread. Did the MA entry. Bought the album. Again. I seem to have some sort of system going now Wink

Image

Divine Wind Requiem ~永遠なる魂へ~
Divine Wind Unlimited Will ~限りない意志~
Divine Wind Declaration of the Holy War ~聖戦の布告~
I enjoyed Final Mission so I picked up some of their earlier EP's as they were going cheap at DH. Fun doujin speed metal with some weird-ass distorted vocals.

And some stuff from Disk Union:

Image

Black Sweet - Time to Depart
The 'Hidden Christians' first album. Liked some of their YouTube stuff so I thought I's check it out.

Angers - Killing Moon
Their new mini-album. Enjoyed the first album so picked this up. Wonder what they did to get blacklisted at MA? Maybe they're picky about dark/gothic stuff?

Metalbastard - Invasion of Dark Troops
The bastard's new album. Had to check it out myself. Better stay positive in case they're Googling themselves again (but if you are reading this, hi guys!) Wink

Another week of deliveries for me...I think I've more or less spent my Christmas money now, though Tongue

CD Japan #1:

Image

Divine Wind - Revival
Divine Wind - Front Crash
Yet more of Divine Wind's loopy doujin-metal. Another section of their discography snapped up.

Cross Vein - Gate of Fantasia
Ah, Julia, where have you been all this time? Staring at some bloody gate, apparently! Who cares what the Amazon reviewers think anyway?

Yahoo! auctions via Shopping Mall Japan:

Image

FullMooN - 東方満月計画
Been looking for this old Touhou CD for ages to complete my FullMooN set. Finally found one on Yahoo! and now just 'Blue Max' to find to finish it off.

Animeta Girl - Animeta Girl Vol. 1
Another one I'd been looking for for ever. Mina-Taicho's short-lived expedition into Animetal style stuff. Hopefully it won't be totally execrable Wink

Another CD Japan delivery (unfortunately with a massive Customs charge this time Angry ):

Image

BURRN! Vol. 10
featuring Loudness, Lazy, Scheherazade, Sansuikan, Action, 44Magnum, Terra Rosa, Dead End, Ziggy, Onmyouza, Outrage, Concerto Moon, Versailles etc. etc. Very retro!

Adrastea - Pathetic Bluemoon
Pathetic title! Glad to see a new CD from Adrastea though. I've played The Ruins of Reminisce so much, I'm almost able to understand the lyrics now...

Girlfriend - Chocolate
Umm...yes. OK I thought they sounded reasonably talented, despite being manufactured, so I bought the album. Hope its not too sickly for me....
